WHILE RIMA FAKIH MAKES HISTORY IN THE UNITED STATES BY BEING THE FIRST MUSLIMA TO WIN MISS USA, BUT AT WHAT COST?
Right at the outset, we want to kindly inform the fundamentalists that this blog is not designed to cater to their extremist interests. As far as they are concerned, if there is any female not fully clothed, avoid her and avoid any issue related to her.
In their opinion, she has sinned and should be shunned. But sorry, we don't see it that way. We try to understand, analyze and learn from the changing events, and new FIRST TIME EVENTS . Labeling Rima in negative terms is not going to help our practice of Islam in terms of implementing our value of TOLERANCE.
How is the Amerian Ummah responding to above new development ?
In no way, shape or form are we supporting Rima either. All we are humbly requesting is to respect one's individual freedom to do what they feel is best as an adult.
Allah has clearly told in the Holy Quran: THERE IS NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION. Allah has mentioned about the choices we have to follow in terms of the right path or wrong path along with highlighting the consequences of each, but ultimately, ALLAH HAS LEFT IT UP TO EACH OF US TO MAKE THE DECISION AS TO HOW WE SHOULD PROCEED WITH THE CHOICES WE HAVE.
The key issue here is that every adult should be respected for the right to make the decision he or she feels is the best for him or her. WE STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO FORCE ONE'S VALUES ON OTHERS.
To those that accuse us of posting "un-Islamic" photos and have the myopic vision of a very narrow world, we say PLEASE GET REAL and look at the fast paced mind-boggling developments around the globe.

We live in a world of complexity where a Jewish gay man in Israel, has purchased a human egg from an American female (ACCORDING TO MODEL OF FACTORY, THE EGG PURCHASED IS RAW MATERIAL-1 AND THE ABOVE MALE'S SPERM IS RAW MATERIAL-2) and arranged for the embryo to be implanted in the womb of an Hindu woman in India (ACCORDING TO MODEL OF FACTORY, THE ABOVE WOMAN IS A BIOLOGICAL FACTORY WHERE THE RAW MATERIALS ARE PROCESSED AND DEVELOPED INTO A PRODUCT) and after nine months of incubation, the gay man finally takes the biological white baby (ACCORDING TO MODEL OF FACTORY, THE ABOVE BABY IS A RACIALLY CUSTOM BUILT MANUFACTURED PRODUCT WHICH IS GIVEN TO THE PURCHASER) back to his home in Israel to join with his male gay partner and raise a family. It is the above delivery of the child from the mother to the purchaser that literally is not only the stabbing but also the mutilation of one of the core family values that mankind has all along known for thousands of years.
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF COMMERCIALIZATION / RENTAL OF THE WOMB. One added intimate concealed part of the female that the POWER OF MONEY could buy and exploit. Not surprisingly, the majority of the the surrogate women are extremely poor and in abject poverty. Why would such helpless women want to miss such a rare financial bonanza/opportunity ?
THIS IS THE REALITY AND COMPLEXITIES WE ARE DEALING WITH IN THE TWENTIETH FIRST CENTURY.
Historically, a man falls in love with a woman, and in most cases, gets married and then the couple has a baby. Any additional babies born to the same woman are considered siblings or if the father is different, half-siblings and the relationship between the siblings generally is acknowledged, fostered and built further into adulthood. However in the above example, due to the COMMERCIAL FACTORY MODEL, there is ZERO relationship between the surrogate mother's new born with her previous children because of the PURE COMMERCIAL CONTRACT OF OBTAINING THE RAW MATERIALS AND MANUFACTURING THE PRODUCT AND EXPORTING THE PRODUCT OFF.
We acknowledge that some may get disturbed over above COLD & HEARTLESS terms used for comparison, but the fact remains, that the whole process is indeed much more indifferent to sibling relationship issues and maternal new-born bonding principles. In above, there is no love, no marriage, no commitment, it all boils down to the process of OUTSOURCING.
A surrogate mother gets special psychological training and against the human value of bonding trains to get mentally prepared to let go of the baby that she has carried for nine months. SHE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO GRIEVE THE LOSS, BECAUSE SHE KNEW WHAT SHE WAS GETTING INTO. A MOTHER'S LOVE FOR HER NEW BORN IS TWISTED TO LITERALLY ACT LIKE A FAUCET, YOU TURN THE TAP ON, WATER COMES OUT, YOU TURN IT OFF, THE WATER STOPS. THE SURROGATE MOTHER IS EXPECTED TO TURN HER EMOTIONS "OFF" AFTER GIVING BIRTH TO THE NEW BORN.
The key word is COMMERCIALIZATION. You have the money, you can achieve the above through non-traditional means.
Some Muslim critics may argue "what has above got to do with Islam and the global Ummah". If only they knew that a growing number of above women involved in surrogate mother hood are Muslim women. These Indian women are typically very poor and the money they earn by above process is more than the combined annual income of their household added for several years together. If these women had other legal alternatives to earn such huge amount within nine months, they would have opted for other alternatives.
Now what is the GLOBAL UMMAH doing to help these helpless Muslim women, you may already know the answer, we don't want to pass any judgment.
The issues of religion, law, economics, politics, family values, ethics, race, genetics, surrogacy contract, nationality, citizenship issues etc are the complex web of realities in above example that we are facing today.
For those holy, moral policemen, who are literally cocooned themselves in their small little world, we politely, sweetly and respectfully state that :
"this E-Zine may not be for you, sorry we have disappointed you, but we have to move on to reach the majority of the people".

Rima Fakih Miss USA 2010 at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.Fakih was born in Srifa, a small city in the Jabal Amel region of Southern Lebanon, to a "powerful" Shi'a Muslim family. As a young child, she lived in the village of Souk El Gharb in Mount Lebanon, and attended St. Rita's, a Catholic school near Beirut. In 1993, her parents, Hussein and Nadia Fakih, moved their family to New York in order to escape effects of the Lebanese Civil War. Fakih attended St. John's Preparatory School, a Catholic high school in Queens,and her father ran a restaurant in Manhattan.
In New York, Fakih's family felt they were subjected to threats and vandalism based on events in the Middle East, and business at her father's restaurant declined following the September 11, 2001, attacks.
In 2003, her family moved to the large Arab-American community in Dearborn, Michigan. Fakih and her family are Muslim, but they also celebrate elements of Christianity, such as Christmas.

Fakih resides in Dearborn.She graduated from the University of Michigan–Dearborn with degrees in economics and business management, and plans to attend law school after her year-long reign. She has a sister, who returned to live in Lebanon, and two brothers. Prior to winning the Miss USA title she worked as a sales associate at the Detroit Medical Center developing and recruiting in the Arab American community.
Fakih competed in her first pageant in when she was nineteen, placing fourth runner-up at Miss Wayne County, a preliminary pageant for Miss Michigan in the Miss America system. She also competed in three smaller international pageants.
Fakih won the Miss Michigan USA pageant on September 19, 2009 at the McMorran Place Theater Port Huron. In May 2010 she represented Michigan at the Miss USA 2010 pageant held at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. She won the Miss USA title on May 16, 2010, becoming the first Miss Michigan USA to win the national title since Kenya Moore in 1993.
Fakih is widely believed to be the first Lebanese American, the first Arab American and the first Muslim to win the Miss USA title; however, pageant officials stated their records are not detailed enough to confirm these claims. The first Michigan delegate to win the Miss USA title, Carole Gist, became the first African-American Miss USA in 1990.
She was also an actress in an independent short film with sexual undertones titled "Throbbing Justice".
During and after the Miss USA pageant, Fakih's religious and ethnic identity became the subject of widespread discussion. On the subject of identity, she was quoted as saying "I'd like to say I'm American first, and I am an Arab-American, I am Lebanese-American, and I am Muslim-American."
Many Arab Americans celebrated Fakih's victory, but some Muslims felt she did not properly represent their religion. Muslim scholar Ghazal Omid wrote "To say that she is a Muslim is inaccurate. No Muslim woman can call herself a Muslim and be on stage with her bikini". Responding to the issue in interviews, Fakih said she and her family are Muslims and respect the religion, but they may not be as strict as many people and do not define themselves by their religion; they view themselves as more "spiritual" than "religious" and appreciate all religions.
Miss Universe:

Rima Fakih won the title of Miss Michigan USA September 19, 2009 to a sold out audience at the McMorran Place Theater in the Host City of Port Huron and, on May 16, 2010, the 24-year-old won the national title of Miss USA as she was crowned at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Before she was Miss USA, and before she was Miss Michigan, Rima Fakih was a pretty good pole dancer. Photos have surfaced on TMZ of the beauty pageant queen winning a stripper contest (she kept her clothes on) in 2007 for a Detroit radio station.
Fakih, who has become the first Arab American to win Miss USA, is dividing the Muslim community in her hometown of Dearborn. Fakih told the Detroit Free Press before the pageant she was aware that some in metro Detroit's Middle Eastern communities may object to women parading their beauty, but she said her family supports her. In fact, her mother encouraged her to compete. "I think the community in Michigan, in Dearborn, might be a little on the strict side," Fakih said. "But my family, in general, are not."
And some in the community are proud of her today. "It's so exciting. It's so amazing. I love it," Fatan Fawzi, 32, told ABC News. "I'm so happy because I'm Arabic like her. She's so pretty."

She became the center of controversy overnight after pole dancing photos surfaced and spread across the globe just as fast as an outlandish rumor started by a U.S. neo-conservative blog that she's a spy for the Shiite Lebanese group Hezbollah, designated by the U.S. and E.U. countries as a terrorist group.
It's hard to gauge which claim could possibly hurt the new Miss USA more: the racy pictures or the unfounded rumors alleging she is affiliated with Hezbollah.

This story is why we are losing the war on terrorism and depending on t-shirt vendors and Dutch film makers to save us as we did in Times Square and on Christmas Day in Detroit. You are a NEWS organization report the facts. Her relatives ARE Hezbollah which she and they say support Hezbollah who is using IED's to kill American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
