How relevant is the below article in the context of the present time, titled, "Attack on Canada, U.S is Attack on Muslims: Imams" which was published more than three years ago ? To quote one part of below article: "In our view, these attacks are evil, and Islam requires Muslims to stand up against this evil," the imams said in their fatwa.
We in this E-Zine want to go one step further to add that attack on innocent human beings regardless of the nationality, ethnicity, religion of the innocents are inherently evil and Islam requires Muslims to stand up against this evil whether such evil act is occurring within the US, Canada or on any part of the world. Which Muslim would want to identify with those criminal and evil minded people who violate the teachings of Islam.
In the Holy Quran, Surah 5, verse 32 as indicated below, it clearly states that killing one single person is AS IF killing the entire humanity and saving one life is like saving the entire humanity. Can you show me any statement either from any other text or any other source that could so strongly emphasize on the VALUE OF LIFE then the below Quranic verse? What could be more compelling statement than equating killing or saving one life with killing or saving the ENTIRE HUMANITY. How does the above translate in terms of comparing the criminal anti-islamic actions of certain extremist Muslims who have literally violated above SACRED ISLAMIC VALUE by literally KILLING HUMANITY TIME AND TIME AGAIN in terms of number of deaths of innocents? We see such terrorist actions as VIOLATIONS AGAINST THE PEACEFUL ISLAMIC CODE OF CONDUCT.
Such barbaric terrorist actions are nothing new in the history of mankind. There has already been enough bloodshed, mayhem and destruction since time immemorial. That's precisely why, more than fourteen hundred years ago, Almighty Allah out of his mercy had specifically conveyed HIS message through Holy Quran to bring PEACE TO MANKIND by placing an EXTRAORDINARY VALUE ON LIFE by equating one life with the life of the ENTIRE humanity.

slew the whole humanity: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the
whole humanity. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear (guidance),
yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land." (5:32)
What you have is a
small negligible group of anti-islamic bandits who have totally
misinterpreted, perverted and twisted the peaceful teachings of Holy
Quran. We appeal to our honorable Imams, respectable Islamic scholars, Islamic
leaders, both Governmental and Non-Governmental organizations,
Inter-Faith groups and people from all walks of life to work together as
a team to courageously confront above evil.
Our message to those non-Muslims who ATTACK our innocent loving Muslim brothers and sisters:
Let us unequivocally convey to you in no uncertain terms, that by
doing so, you are also following the same footsteps of the EVIL and
inadvertently helping the cause and growth of such EVIL.
THINK AGAIN. Do
you really want to help the above EVIL forces ?
Every single attack on a INNOCENT MUSLIM may be a favor you are bestowing to above EVIL forces since you make it easier for them to increase their recruitment of additional forces. We the PEACEFUL MUSLIM MAJORITY need YOUR HELP to JOIN US in fighting AGAINST above anti-islamic evil forces and NOT inadvertently SUPPORTING THEM by making it easier in their recruitment to increase their evil forces.
HATE BREEDS HATE and it is a vicious circle
that will continue to spiral unchecked if the SILENT NON-MUSLIM PEACEFUL MAJORITY continues
to be passive and condescending in their attitude. We appeal for them to be more compassionate than condescending. Muslims specially as minorities in the West are already victimized by above Evil bandits who have misrepresented their peace loving religion of Islam and evoked strong negativity. Let NOT the PEACEFUL MAJORITY INNOCENT MUSLIMS be victimized TWICE by being VICTIMS of HATE CRIMES perpetrated by Non-Muslims.
We
pray that such EVIL should be eliminated and this will not happen
unless we human beings from all nationalities, ethnicity, religions,
cultures etc come together to fight our common enemy at all levels, who PREY on our INNOCENTS locally, nationally and internationally.

A group of Canadian
and U.S. Islamic leaders on Friday issued a fatwa, or religious
edict, declaring that an attack by extremists on the two countries
would constitute an attack on the 10 million Muslims living in North
America. The 20 imams associated with the Islamic Supreme
Council of Canada said this marked the first fatwa by the Muslim
clergy declaring attacks on Canada and the U.S. to be attacks on
Muslims.
"In
our view, these attacks are evil, and Islam requires Muslims to stand
up against this evil," the imams said in their fatwa.
Calgary Imam Syed Soharwardy, founder of the
Islamic Supreme Council of Canada, said attacks on Canadian or U.S.
soil are essentially attacks on Muslims.
"We are part of this society," he said.
"This is my home, and if anybody attacks on Canada, in fact,
attacks on my home."
The imams said it is a duty of every Muslim in
Canada and the U.S. to safeguard the two countries.
"They must expose any person, Muslim or
non-Muslim, who would cause harm to fellow Canadians or Americans,"
they said.
"It is religious obligation upon Muslims,
based upon the Qur'anic teachings, that we have to be loyal to the
country where we live," said Soharwardy. "We have no
problems in Canada; we can practise our religion freely."
In Montreal, one of the signatories of the edict,
Imam Nasir Qadri of the Anwar Musallah Mosque, said he spoke to his
followers at his mosque about the issue Friday. Most of them call Canada home and feel personally
threatened by the attempted attacks, he said.
The 20 imams who signed the fatwa come from
British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and Houston. The fatwa comes just weeks after an attempted
bombing on Christmas Day of a U.S. jet bound for Detroit from
Amsterdam. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian
man, has been indicted on six charges, which include attempted use of
a weapon of mass destruction and attempted murder.

Students Of Multiple Faiths Restore Bronx Synagogue Housed Inside Mosque

Christian, Jewish and Muslim volunteers came together Sunday to
refurbish the “Shul in the Mosque,” a synagogue that happens to be
situated inside of a mosque in the Bronx.

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Christian, Jewish and Muslim volunteers came together Sunday to refurbish the “Shul in the Mosque,” a synagogue that happens to be situated inside of a mosque in the Bronx.
The Shul in the Mosque is located inside the Islamic Cultural Center of North America, which also houses the Masjid Al-Iman, at 2006-8 Westchester Ave. in the Parkchester section of the Bronx. Members of the Bais Menachem of Parckchester worship in the space.
The partnership began when the Young Israel Congregation was holding a drive for needy families years back, and received a donation from Masjid Al-Iman founder Sheikh Moussa Drammeh, according to a Tablet Magazine report.
The Parkchester neighborhood was once largely Jewish, but is now home to a largely African immigrant population that practices Islam, the Riverdale Y explained. Sheikh Moussa Drammeh is a native of Gambia.
Young Israel had to sell its building in the Bronx in 2003 and closed four years later, leaving the remaining congregants with nowhere to go, the magazine reported. Chabad Lubavitch took over the reins of the congregation, and Drammeh volunteered to set a space aside in the mosque for worship services, the magazine reported.
The refurbishment project is funded in part by a Unity Grant from the City of New York.
Rabbi Bob Kaplan, founder director of the New York Center for Community and Coalition Building of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, is friends with Drammeh. Kaplan said he was surprised when he visited the mosque for the first time.
“I visited my friend, the imam, during Ramadan, and he said, ‘Here’s our place, and here’s this, here’s that, and here’s the synagogue?’” Kaplan told 1010 WINS. “And I said, ‘The synagogue?’”
The leaders of the mosque and the synagogue decided to make the refurbishment a true interfaith effort, Kaplan said.
“We decided to bring together students from the Riverdale Y, from the synagogue, from the mosque here, and from Manhattan College to come together – Christians, Jews and Muslims coming together to make a more beautiful place for folks to pray in,” Kaplan said.

Whenever a Muslim is involved in a crime against humanity, regardless if she or he is religious or not, the mainstream media and many of the people who rely on it for an objective source of news, straight away demonize all Muslims as being collectively guilty of the crime.
Calls for a public apology on behalf of the entire Muslim community are issued, along with declarations that all Muslims should be killed, deported, surveyed, or otherwise contained until they “prove” their loyalty – which can never be done, because the bar is intentionally set higher and higher whenever a Muslim does manage to fulfill all of their ridiculous criteria. But what about “huggable” Buddhism? The true “Religion of Peace”?
While Islam is seen through blood colored glasses in the West, Buddhism receives the rose colored platinum treatment.
When barely covered news reports of Buddhist on Muslim violence in Myanmar began to surface, the few people who paid attention were absolutely shocked. Buddhists killing Muslims? “What did the Muslims do to them first?”, I am sure many people asked silently. This is how propaganda and stereotypes work. The mere thought of a Buddhist violently attacking a person of another faith simply makes no sense. Whereas the thought of a Muslim violently attacking a person of another faith makes perfect sense.
Danios wrote an article a few months ago about the history of “Buddhist violence.” The intention of the article was not to claim that Buddhism is “inherently violent”, but simply to point out that every religion, even “huggable” Buddhism, can be used to justify religiously inspired violence.
Cue Wirathu, the “Burmese Bin Laden.”

Every religion has extremists. Buddhism isn’t an exception, as a 45-year-old Burmese Monk dubbed as the “Buddhist Bin Laden” is flaming social tensions between Buddhists and Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar by advocating for violence against Rohingyas. In doing so, Wirathu is invoking the call for a Burmese Buddhist national identity while gaining popularity in the country to help his own rise as a significant influence in Myanmar’s politics.
Wirathu is a 45-year-old Buddhist monk who has used social media channels to convey his hate-filled messages. The West’s conventional image of Buddhist followers is one of a religion of peace, yet many are shocked that in a region that has often been called one of the most peaceful in the world, there is an emergence of such hate induced actions caused by his speech.
Wirathu was born near Mandalay, and in 2001, created a national campaign to boycott Muslim businesses in 2001. He was soon jailed 25 years for his actions. He was released in 2010 through a general amnesty.
Wirathu has been on the stump since his release, and has been associated with violence in Rakhine and in Mandalay. In Rakhine, more than 200 people were killed and 100,000 in 2012. His message of hate and violence against Muslims also led to recent violence in Meiktila, where a dispute at a gold shop led to 40 deaths, and the destruction of a Muslim community in the city.
Muslims comprise of 5% Myanmar’s 60 million people. Wirathu’s rants and tirades against Muslims in Myanmar have also culminated in the nationalist “969” campaign using the number 969 to demarcate homes so that they can identify themselves as clearly Buddhists and create remnants of a state divided not by sectionalism, but rather through religion. This has led to hate-filled speeches where he has described Muslims as both “cruel and savage” and has attacked many Muslim practices from the killing of cattle to convincing many Buddhists in Myanmar that the population boom among Muslim communities in these countries will lead to a takeover of the country.
